Buist Moore Smythe McGee P.A. is pleased to announce that Jim Myrick has been appointed by Governor Mark Sanford as a member of the Commission on Indigent Defense for the State of South Carolina.

Myrick's four year term will consist of establishing and monitoring current and future programs and services to ensure the continuation of legal representation to indigent defendants.  As head of the Firm's Civil Litigation Practice Group, Myrick brings experience from the civil bar to bear on the Commission.

Indigent cases in the State of South Carolina represent the majority of all cases in South Carolina's General Sessions Court.  The Commission on Indigent Defense along with the Public Defenders Association provide indigents with the necessary means for representation in the justice system within the State of South Carolina.
